The most common use of plastic totes is as caddies to help you when you’re working any kind of job like cleaning windows or weeding your garden. A plastic tote is every organized individual’s dream tool. The general feeling of overwhelm that one feels when one walks into a cluttered space can easily be taken care of with the appropriate plastic tote.
Plastic totes are plastic storage containers or plastic boxes with a number of partitions in them that makes them extremely efficient for storing and organizing small tools that you require on a regular basis. Personally, I have a number of totes set up — my car washing tote which has a couple of sponges, my car wax, a mild abrasive agent to take care of the small scratches in the paint and my special blend of car washing detergent solution. Since I am pretty organized form the get go and keep the things back in their designated place once I’m done using them, all I have to do when I need to clean my car is just carry the tote outside and begin my chores — no need to run around the house and the garage looking for supplies and the like.
If you’re just starting with your supplies then it is pretty easy to get them organized whether they be for your home or your office — just bunch them into categories and stuff them into any tote you have on hand. I usually decide my categories by type — so if I was to organize office supplies my tote would have a place to put in highlighters, a section for pens, another for pencils and then smaller ones for paper clips and pins. To top it off, I’d probably get a couple of more totes and use them to manage my files, papers and the like.
If you plan on carrying your tote from one location to the other a lot then you should consider getting one with wheels. Even though they don’t weigh a lot, you are better off with a stand or some other way to move it as you wouldn’t want to end up with a sore back or a plastic tote that gets all mixed up on your way to the job.
Pretty much every tote you buy is stackable and most are nestable which means you can get a tray upon tray of them for whatever task you have in mind and not worry about them taking up too much space.
