Metal bucket

Sometimes you need to store things out in the public and no matter how high the quality of the plastic, a plastic bucket will make for an unsightly sight. Whether you’re storing fire wood or looking to cool of a beverage in a vat of ice a galvanized metal basket will be one of the best purchases you’ve ever made. Even though this is the Plastic Baskets website, we regularly take out time to report on other products that help our customers organize and improve their lives in one way or the other.

Metal bucketsMetal buckets made out of stainless steel or tempered metal are great for use as water buckets in the outdoors. In those situations, plastic is just too weak a material to be working with. A simple stress test will prove my point though make sure you don’t try this at home. I did it with all the precaution I could muster and used all the safety gear I could borrow. I stood up on a plastic basket with all on weight and the bucket buckled and then broke from one side while the metal bucket did fine. In another test I slammed a bucket full of water into a wall — much like one would do if you were out swinging the bucket and it accidently hit something and the bucket immediately developed a crack on its side and started leaking water. The metal basket on the other hand was fine.

There is this myth that metal baskets require more care than plastic baskets with salt from untreated water getting accumulated in them and all, but if you’re using a galvanized basket, then the salts that accumulate are pretty much the same as those that end up on plastic buckets and baskets. Another factor that seems to stop people from buying them is that they are too heavy. While this may have been true two decades ago, the reality today is quite different. These baskets weigh only a couple of pounds more than the standard plastic basket that you would purchase in the market on any given day.

So metal is stronger than plastic, makes for buckets that won’t melt in high temperatures, can handle solvents and cost only a little more than plastic baskets. If you are looking to keep them for a long time, then you should consider buying metal buckets for all the reasons listed above.
